Elizabeth Gilbey is a figurative artist and the owner and teacher at Rusko Studio, a rural art school, teaching classical methods in landscape and still life. The studio is based in Dumfries and Galloway and Elizabeth exhibits and sells locally and in London.

Training 
Jan 2005 – July 2016:  Student Member of London Fine Art Studios.


I worked part-time at this South London atelier, the only one of its kind in the UK, I completed courses in drawing and painting in charcoal, pastel and oils.  I was trained by founders of the school, Ann Witheridge, Scott Pohlschmidt and Nick Bashall. I also worked with, and was taught by, artists including Alex Tzavaras, India Amos, Rosalie Watkins, Joni Hirata Duarte and Emily Lamb.

My training focussed on the figure, portraiture, still life and landscape.

Current occupation - Art Teacher, Founder of Rusko Studio: 
Rusko Studio is the recipient of a LEADER grant supporting a local art school and holiday destination for painters
Currently teaching landscape and still life oil painting at Rusko Studio, Gatehouse of Fleet, DG7 2BS.  Visiting teacher at a number of local art groups in Dumfries and Galloway.

Chase Contemporary Exhibition at the Royal College of Art 2010-2015
I exhibited for five years consecutively by invitation to this prestigious London show. I sold 100% of work submitted each year.
Leighton House Museum: The Craft of Drawing and Painting. Celebrating Tradition Today. 1st Sept – 4th October 2015
My still life work was selected to be part of this exhibition of traditional painting at the house Victorian artist, Frederick, Lord Leighton. 
London Fine Art Studios in-house exhibitions:  I took part in a number of group shows at the studios which were open to the public.

Commissions:
I have completed commissions for a number of private individuals in London and Scotland including:
Mrs Sheila Stuart: two still life paintings commissioned at Spring Fling.
Mr and Mrs Alexander McCulloch: landscape of the Ardwall Estate, Gatehouse of Fleet, 2018 and a further commission under way in 2019.
Mrs and Mrs Ian Baggs: A large still life canvas of aubergine and red onions.
Mr and Mrs Paul Wild: large still life of various vegetables.
Hon Mr and Mrs Philip Gilbey. Still life with a blue jug and vegetables.
