Helen M Turner was born in Glasgow and educated at Giffnock School. Helen joined the design studio of James Templeton and attended Glasgow School of Art in the evening, studying under Trevor Mackinson and William Gallachar for portraiture and still life.

She then continued with a career in design and painting becoming a documented designer in Aubusson, Savonnary and Bauvais and travelled extensively abroad to this end.

Helen has designs in many prestigious establishments throughout the world including The New York Plaza, Waldorf Astoria, Turnberry Hotel, San Francisco Opera House, many Hilton Hotels, Liners and Casinos.

She resigned from designing to become a full time painter in 1990 and exhibits in PAI, GSWA and galleries from Pitlochry to London.

Helen has paintings in the collections of the late Lord Morton, Lord McLean, Robert Fleming Holdings plc, Ramco Oil, Dunedin Fund Managers, Baillie & Gifford, Leone Cockburn Contemporary Art, The Trustees Savings Bank, Edinburgh, South Ayrshire Council and Paisley Museum & Art Gallery. 

Helen has also exhibited in St. Petersburg, France and Hong Kong.
