Artist Lena Alexander was born in Glasgow on 9 December 1899. She lived in Kirkcudbright and painted in watercolour and pastel; mainly flowers but also landscapes.

Painted views of Venice and Paris and other continental cities. Was also known for her portraits - especially of children. Studied Edinburgh School of Art and Paris. Moved to Kirkcudbright in 1939 to be near her friends Dorothy and Miles Johnston. Exhibited RA and regularly at the RSA.
