Bathroom Renovations and Hilke Macintyre Ceramics
Hilke MacIntyre’s work is very popular in the gallery. Her ceramic reliefs can be hung with a simple nail, and they hang flush to the wall. Customers eagerly collect her work, her imagination knows no bounds and we always look forward to unpacking a new delivery of her work.
Because her pieces are ceramic, they particularly lend themselves to being hung where other types of art might pose a problem such as in a sunny conservatory or a bathroom where damp would be detrimental to most forms of art.
This year I am embarking on a house renovation and when planning a room artwork is always at the forefront of my mind.
I was delighted to find that Hilke MacIntyre’s ‘In the Shower’ could be incorporated into the tiling in our bathroom. A small detail in the room has elevated it to a completely unique space and I am delighted with the result. Our plumber is a super neat tiler and was very clever with the way he cut into the tiles round it and made sure the ceramic panel fitted flush with the surrounding tiles.
The next room in our house renovation project is the kitchen and the colours there have been influenced by a much-loved Simon Laurie RSW RGI painting. Art brings a room to life, and I couldn’t imagine a house without it.
