Antony 2011 - 2022
Those of you who have visited the gallery over the last eleven years will have met our wonderful whippet. Very sadly Antony had been ill with cancer for the last three months and I am heartbroken to say that he died on 22 May.
Antony was born at Whitehill, Parton on 15 April 2011. We had met his breeders Angela & Anthony Randall when they came into the gallery, and after discovering that they bred whippets we asked them to let us know about their forthcoming litter. We chose two puppies – Gatsby who was going to live with Leo in Glasgow and Antony who was going to be Jill’s dog and come to the gallery with us. Antony looked exactly like his mother, Bluebell. At the time I was renovating a house and when the time came for me to move, Jill very kindly suggested that I take Antony with me. He had ‘chosen’ me as his person and went on to be my constant companion and best friend for the past eleven years.
His calm but sociable personality was perfectly suited to gallery life, and he became great friends with so many customers over the years. In fact, sometimes he stole the show and got more attention than the artwork! He was the most wonderful ambassador for the breed and because of meeting him many friends and customers went on to get a whippet themselves. He loved spending time with the family and liked nothing better than a family party and a chance to meet up with everyone. He also always had a second home back at the Schoolhouse with Jill and Roger. He enjoyed Gelston holidays on a regular basis where he was treated like a prince and had a wonderful time. We are heartbroken but also feel so lucky to have had such a special boy in our lives. We have a lifetime of happy memories. Antony – the best gallery dog.
